Soluble in water, and hydrolysis. It is a mild oxidant, and mixed organic matter, reducing agents, sulfur, phosphorus, and easy to ignite. Red mercuric oxide generated when heated slowly, it generates mercury, nitrogen dioxide and oxygen strong heat. The copper wire is placed in a solution of mercury nitrate, displaces occur, generating a blue copper nitrate solution and metallic mercury. Because the hydrolysis reaction produces a small amount of yellow mercury oxide precipitation.
